Congratulations to everyone supporting the grassroots campaign to elect Faisel Hussein as the next Mayor of Alpine! Our focus on inclusion and representation yielded exceptional results throughout July and early August.

Following the recent passing of Alpine's Council President, the incumbent Mayor bypassed both of his announced council candidates to fill the vacancy. Instead, a relatively new resident was appointed to the seat. This decision was made despite previous hints that the incumbent Mayor preferred one of those council candidates as the presumptive successor.

I do not believe this unusual appointment would have taken place if our grassroots campaign had not been so effective in raising awareness that the Alpine of today is diverse and we want our voices heard.

To continue to move Alpine forward, there are three critical issues which require immediate attention:

1. Address Pressing Public Safety Concerns

Staffing Deficiencies: Restore essential investigative roles by addressing the current lack of a dedicated Detective on our police force.

Proactive Protection: Reallocate municipal budget resources to prioritize modern community safety measures.

2. Manage Impacts of Major Closter Dock Road Construction

Infrastructure Strain: Evaluate the outsized impact that massive real estate and utility developments are having on our borough's municipal services.

Resource Accountability: Ensure that ongoing construction does not continue to compromise local flora.

3. Implement Tangible Solutions to Mitigate Flooding

Infrastructure Action: Identify concrete, engineering-backed steps to upgrade our drainage systems amid worsening regional flash flood threats.

Rebuild Community: Revitalize the historic, close-knit community fabric of Alpine, ensuring transparent leadership that listens to all residents equally.

As the next Mayor of Alpine, I intend to unite our community of ~1,700 people and allocate our resources on positive improvements benefiting the entire neighborhood resulting in better safety and a stronger sense of community. Increasing transparency and proactively seeking input from neighbors will greatly help our community to be more inclusive, safer and more effective.

it's important to me”
